I started conceptualizing this quilt collection by thinking of basic geometrical shapes. With a perspective of designing a garment collection, I created mood boards for each quilt, as well as color stories, and designed them as a group. Each quilt has a visual story of images that brought out its individual personality, but all highlight a simple geometric shape, and are meant to be shown as a collection. I enjoyed thinking of these quilts as garments, especially when it came to the finishing details - such as two toned binding, hand quilting used as accent, and asymmetrical blocking. I suppose it seemed appropriate and comforting to begin this creative journey revisiting the foundation of design elements.
