In designing this quilt the main focus was on curves and circles. The curves of horizon lines you see during long drives through the empty desert, the curves of cozy sweaters when worn effortlessly… After many drafts, inspiration came to me, as one would expect, at the most unexpected time. I was putting my son Oliver in his crib for his nap, looked down and saw the rug in his room. I was reminded of the road trips I took with my husband before Oliver was born. And voila, this quilt was born~! Arranged in a pattern reminiscent of woven blankets found on a couple of road trips through New Mexico, and inspired by the long stretches of sky and desert road that would disappear into the horizon.
